time for more fun

After all this time, linksys FINALLY came out with a

Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link

like I was telling Susan, its about freakin time

Of course it just figures, that they came out with it now of all times, when I don’t have a job and can’t afford to get it

oh well, maybe I’ll just add it to my Amazon wishlist, why not.. hehe.

The reason why I have been waiting for this so much, I have Network Attached Storage already, but it doesn’t support gigabit, and the thing is, without gigabit, Network attached storage really isn’t that useful, because transferring anything to the Network hard drive is SO slow.. Susan uses it all the time to store her music on, we use it as a music jukebox here, hehe, but I know she’s complained before about how long it takes to transfer her songs onto it, it’ll just spin and spin and spin sometimes taking 20 minutes just to upload 1 song sometimes, and I know gigabit helps alot with that, so I know Susan is going to drool over this thing too probably, hehe. Oh well, something to look forward to 3 years down the road when I get a real job I suppose. Now if they could only attach a 2 port printserver onto it we’d be completely happy. 1 port for a printer, another port for our scanner. That way, all of us can share the printer, scanner, and music that we all like to listen to. something cool to drool over I suppose.

I had my yearly eye doctor appointment yesterday, those are always fun. You guys think sitting in ER for hours is fun, or a regular doctors visit is fun, try going to one of my eye doctor appointments, those are REAL fun. hehe.

Yesterdays wasn’t too bad though, I got there at 12:50, and was out by 5pm. Sounds like along time, but actually thats pretty good, considering most of the time, I go in at 8am and don’t get out til 5pm. hehe. kinda like Social Security, hehe. Its not waiting for doctors that takes so long, there actually pretty quick in there about that most of the time, its usually waiting for my eyes to dilate that takes so long. hehe. I just felt sorry for Susan, she had to have blood work done, for her doctors appointment earlier that day, so she couldn’t have anything after 12am that night, then she had to take me up to Ft Wayne after her appointment, and wait with me for over 4 hours at my eye doctors. poor thing, thought she was going to get dehydrated in there waiting for me.. So I took my girl to Golden Corral, where we pigged out on all you can eat..

Anyway, doctor said my condition hasn’t changed. Looks the same he said, which is actually good news, means it hasn’t gotten any worse. Left eye is still 20/300, right is still “2 fingers at 2 feet” same as before, but he did switch me to a different glaucoma medicine, something called Travatan - Z whatever that means. I think its the same brand, just they added the Z at the end, must be improved I guess.. I just hope its not more expensive. Just my eye drops alone cost me $200 a month, hopefully that hasn’t gone up, because I don’t even have the $200/mo right now, much of less more then that, but I got enough medicine to last the next month, so I am hoping after that, Medicaid will start up, and cover the cost of that, at least most of it anyway. I am not sure at this point, how much Medicare / Medicaid pays for prescription drugs. We tried to free medicine program, but so far have not heard anything back, so I don’t know, all we can do is hope for the best, I suppose..

My vision is still a little blury from the dilation from yesterday. Normally that only takes a day to wear off, but yesterday, they put this jell stuff over my eyes, and put that ball thing over it, kinda like they do when they do lazer surgery, they did that to me yesterday, to get a better look at the Optic Nerve. They always have a hard time seeing inside my eyes, around all the mess.. I joked with my doctor, saying, thats probably why I have a such a hard time seeing out too. hehe. Doctor also mentioned that word “aphakia” yesterday, so I asked him what that meant, and he confirmed that it means “I have no lense of the eye” so that was rather informative. He said they cannot put one back on, because its too much of a risk loosing what I have now. Most people who have lense implant surgeries increase their vision dramatically, like up to normal, but in my case, he said it would not improve much anyway even if they did implant one, so its not worth the risk either way. I also asked him what that machine was for, that they put me in, that they always get a failing reading on me.. He laughed, and said its a machine to test what your prescription is. The machine is basically reading I have no vision at all, but he says that is no big deal, they only use it to get a rough idea of what my glasses prescription is, but at least now I know what that machine is for. hehe
