Big Brothers Big Sisters
Well, Wednesday I went to a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser dinner at the Lake CIty Tap House, downtown Warsaw. Our local Big Brothers Big Sisters embarked on a campaign this summer to recruit 100 new volunteers for Kosciusko County. We are about 20 volunteers so far reaching our goal of 100.
For those who don’t know what Big Brothers Big Sisters is, Volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters are matched with a child, who has no mom or dad, to hang out either over lunch once a week at the child’s school, or a couple of times a month in the community. This latest event was an opportunity for volunteers, those going through the process, and anyone from the community who is interested in learning more about the volunteer programs, to come out and meet each other.
It was fun, I got to meet several people around the community, sit down and have a free meal, thats always fun. hehe. I’m not much of a social person, but I used the skills I learned from the Leadership Academy at school, to socialize with others during this event. I was pretty proud of myself, I spoke up in a normal tone, very clearly and mingled around the room talking to everybody who attended. I actually had some meaningful conversations with several people.
I have a lot of praying to do tonight, in hopes a little brother, and I, find each other soon.
